This Municipality seeks the personal growth of its people, a better quality of life and full social integration in the community. We believe this can only be achieved through cultural development, fostering arts, knowledge and science.

Our strategy consists in integrating the local community and its visitors in the cultural program, taking into consideration the special characteristics of both, striking a balance between the different cultural proposals and the social needs. The Undersecretary of Culture is responsible for attaining this objective with the active participation of the community, developing programs to:

• Strengthen the local culture
• Foster regional, national and international interchange
• Create and use Cultural Spaces
• Schedule various cultural events
• Work in an orderly and profitable way with other secretaries, undersecretaries and committees: Human Development and Social Work, Sports, Tourism, Neighbor Committees, etc.
• Manage public and private resources to carry out different projects that have been conceived by this Municipality or by the Tourism Department
• Value our Cultural Heritage
• Broadcast and advertise the different cultural activities

National Mountaineer Festival

This Festival started in 1981, with the aim of celebrating the mind and spirit of this mountain village.

Trabún

This traditional three-day festival, brings together the music and dancing of the Argentine and Chilean people, as well as many other Latin American countries through the culture of their native communities. The celebration takes place amidst a handicraft fair, where you can savor the typical delights of each region.

Andean Christmas

This Festival was celebrated for the first time in 1977, it was the first national festival in our city. It was born in the spirit of the community and has become one of the most important events for visitors and neighbors in the past years.

City Anniversary Celebration

Traditional parade, with the participation of representatives of the different institutions in the community.

Cultural Summer

Tourists and neighbors can enjoy free performances on outdoor stages located in the main squares in town.
